Journal of Digital Design Research (JDDR) is a peer reviewed interdisciplinary journal dedicated to high quality research on digital technologies shaping contemporary design. It publishes work on computational and AI assisted design, VR/AR/MR and immersive visualization, digital prototyping and fabrication (including 3D printing), and reality capture workflows such as 3D scanning and digital twins. JDDR welcomes empirical studies, methodological and technical papers, critical reviews, and theory building that connect these tools to design cognition, user experience, education, and professional practice across interior design, architecture, landscape architecture, graphic and communication design, fashion, and related design disciplines.
FEBRUARY, 2026 | Call for Submissions: Computational Futures in Design: AI, XR, and Materialization
The Journal of Digital Design Research (JDDR) is now accepting submissions for its inaugural issue, themed Computational Futures in Design: AI, XR, and Materialization. JDDR is a peer reviewed, open access journal published through Open Journal Systems (OJS), with no submission fees and no publication fees.
This issue invites rigorous scholarship that examines how computational methods are reshaping design research, education, and professional practice, with particular emphasis on the evolving relationships among artificial intelligence, extended reality (VR, AR, MR), and the material translation of ideas through digital fabrication and prototyping. We welcome contributions that move beyond tool demonstrations to articulate clear research questions, defensible methods, and evidence based insights into design processes and outcomes.

JDDR welcomes Research Articles, Methodological and Technical Papers, Review Articles, Case Studies and Applied Research, and Short Communications / Technical Notes. Authors are encouraged to provide transparent documentation of software, hardware, datasets, and evaluation procedures, and to share supporting materials where appropriate.
