Abstract
Four help orientation models (moral, enlightenment, compensatory, medical) are represented in a Q sort administered to 68 geriatric nursing care givers (Registered and non-Registered Nurses in nursing homes and home care programs), who are instructed to express their orientations in a hypothetical case. The resulting three factors could not be explained in terms of demographic characteristics. but the first was consistent with the medical model, the second rejects the compensatory model. and the third is a combination of the enlightenment and medical models.
