The Importance of a Scholarly Debate

Abstract

Pilots like to talk about flying, but when it comes to scholarly debate about professional aviation training, the numbers of pilot-scholars are few. Instead of shrinking from a formal debate about the issues, I think we should welcome any opportunity to become better informed. This editorial shares some of my views on this important subject.
