Abstract
Childcare is one of the the most pressing issues facing working parents with children under the age of 13 years in the U.S. this article sets a historical context fr childcare at the national and state level with a focus on Oklahoma. It discusses issues of affordability and accessibility and quality of care, as well as describes the Reaching for the Stars Program, a progressive initiative that addresses affordability and quality criteria of child care services.
