Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.


Author Guidelines

Unless otherwise stipulated in the submission’s section policy guidelines, all submissions should adhere to the disciplinary mode of presentation including content, stylistic and bibliographic guidelines appropriate to the field of study.  All submissions, regardless of field of study, should meet the following criteria:

  1. The submission describes the purpose and significance of the research clearly for a general, multi-disciplinary audience.
  2. The research described is original and relevant to the field of study.
  3. The project is well designed and executed.
  4. Results are thoughtfully interpreted and thoroughly analyzed.
  5. Conclusions are logically supported through results and citations.
  6. Supporting materials (illustrations, graphs, audio/video recordings and notes) reinforce descriptions and claims made in the submission.
  7. The submission is well-written, efficiently organized and easy to follow.
  8. The submission is free of spelling, grammatical and other writing errors.

Please review carefully the appropriate section policies to ensure compliance with all submission guidelines.


Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The author confirms that this submission to the OKJUR does not infringe on the copyright of any material included.

  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for references, audio/video recordings and other external materials have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the content, stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. The instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  7. The submission's author(s) and faculty mentor have completed all fields, agreed to the terms and signed the OKJUR Publication Release form.  Authors must upload the signed release form in Step 4 of the submission process: "Uploading Supplementary Files"

Copyright Notice

The Oklahoma Journal of Undergraduate Research (OKJUR) does not retain copyright over published material and allows for publication in other venues.  Authors should verify that their submissions do not conflict with the policies of other publications to which they may submit, and they should gain consent from the faculty member(s) who mentored the project to ensure that the submissions do not violate copyright restrictions.

The names and email addresses entered in OKJUR will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
